Texas Recovers from Category One Hurricane Beryl
In early July, Texas faced a Category 1 hurricane. Hurricane Beryl left millions of Texans without power for days.
Beryl brought heavy rain and strong winds, and “toppled 10 transmission lines and knocked down trees that took down power lines”, according to the Associated Press. More than two million homes and establishments lost power in the Houston area.
The severe weather led to at least seven deaths. “Our hearts grieve for all Texans impacted by Hurricane Beryl, including our fellow Texans who tragically lost their lives or were injured,” Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, stated.
