Rep. Jenn Hill Pledges to Lower Costs for Upper Peninsula, Help Michigan  Families Make Ends Meet

State Representative Jenn Hill, an infrastructure advocate and nonprofit leader, says she’s dedicated to building a more resilient Michigan and helping families make ends meet in a time of stagnant wages and rising costs.

Michigan’s median household income stands at $68,505, ranking below the most recent report on the national real median household income of $74,580. Hill says her economic agenda meets this challenge and prioritizes investments into workforce development and bolsters workers’ rights to ensure the resulting economic growth delivers lower costs of living for Michigan.

“I understand the squeeze families in the UP face when it comes to making ends meet — especially as wages remain stagnant and costs continue to rise for everyday essentials,” Hill states.

Hill says that is why she’s supported state budgets that increased wages for workers, funding for workforce development, and higher education such as apprenticeships and trades. She is driven by connecting people and resources to open doors for Michigan’s families and workers, ensuring that no is left behind in the rapidly-changing 21st century economy and that lower costs reach everyday folks.

Throughout her career, Hill has championed various initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for residents in the region. As Vice President of the Citizens Utility Board of Michigan, she has advocated for consumer-first energy policies, striving to lower electric rates and ensure financial relief for households. Her tenure on the Marquette City Commission underscores her dedication to collaborative problem-solving and effective governance.
