Picking up a  good book is a way to relax and enjoy an entrancing story or learn about a new subject. With so many choices it may seem daunting to narrow down your options, but there are many ways to find the perfect book tailored to your interests. 

Goodreads is a website catered to tracking and researching books. Once you have cataloged books you are interested in, Goodreads produces a selection of book recommendations. Goodreads also provides social features that allow you to follow friends and keep up with their reading activities. 

The New York Times has a Book Review, where writers review books and curate insightful lists of books based on a plethora of topics. For example, the Book Review recently published a list of the “100 Best Books of the 21st Century.” 

Social media can be a great place to find book recommendations. In recent years there has been a resurgence of interest in books on various social media platforms, most notably TikTok. These TikTok creators have been coined “Booktok.” Simon & Schuster marketing and publicity manager Olivia Horrox told The Guardian, “Like the ice-bucket challenge that used to be around on Facebook, these TikTok trends become a challenge in the same way, and you don’t want to miss out on the zeitgeist, so you get the book that everyone’s talking about.” Book creators create content based off of book reviews and book recommendations. Watching these informative videos can be an excellent way to kickstart your reading journey.
