State Assembly Candidate Ryan Spaude Wants to Invest More Money in Public Schools
Ryan Spaude is a Democrat running for Wisconsin State Assembly District 89. One of Spaude’s top priorities is investing more money in public schools and education. According to his campaign website, “I'm a product of our public schools. They are the backbone of our communities, and it would be foolish not to invest in our future --- our kids.”
Spaude says that the reason he is running is to help working families. According to Spaude, “[t]he stock market keeps going up, but way too many families around Green Bay are just barely getting by. We need relief. We need leaders who will take action. With a historic $7 billion budget surplus, we can invest in public education, raise the minimum wage, fully fund the Child Care Counts Program, and finally expand Medicaid. We can do all of these things to help working families – and it starts by electing new leadership down in Madison.”
Spaude has been endorsed by the Wisconsin Education Association Council.
Patrick Buckley is the Republican candidate for Wisconsin State Assembly District 89. Buckley does not appear to have a campaign website, nor has he stated a position on funding for public education. It is uncommon for candidates to not take a stand on such important topics, especially this close to Election Day.
If elected, Buckley would join the Republican Assembly caucus, which voted earlier this year for a bill that some say prioritized school voucher funding over public school funding.
