With a focus on lowering costs and creating good jobs, State Representative Nate Shannon says that his priorities are to address the needs of Michigan’s families and workers, boost economic growth, and enhance the quality of life for everyone in the state.

With Michigan's unemployment rate of 3.9% slightly exceeding the national rate of 3.8%, Shannon says that his economic policy to lower costs and create jobs takes on added urgency. 

He emphasizes that his economic policy is built on delivering “good jobs, strong paychecks, paid family leave, and great public schools.” On top of policy that he would support to lower costs, he highlights his legislative priority to keep money in Michiganders’ pockets by protecting essential benefits that families rely on, such as Social Security and Medicare.

Throughout his time in office, Shannon says his policy proposals addressed the economic challenges facing Michigan. This included streamlining the approval process for kinship caregivers to ensure the safety of children, implementing claw-backs on employers who offshore jobs, reinstating the Earned Income Tax Credit for low-income workers, and removing non-compete clauses for hourly jobs.

With a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Oakland University and a Master's degree in Secondary Education from Wayne State University, Shannon says he is prepared to continue his role as a public servant.
