Rep. Joey Andrews Says He Stands with Michigan’s Coastal Communities by Fighting For Lower Costs, Stronger Economy
State Representative Joey Andrews, a fifth-generation Southwest Michigan native, who represents Michigan's 38th House District says he is determined to lower costs for Michigan families and to advocate for the needs of coastal communities.
Michigan’s coastal communities face unique challenges, including a short-term rental crisis, the public school system, and fair wages for working families, issues that Andrews says he is focused on.
Andrews wants to expand local employment opportunities and strengthen Southwest Michigan's economy. He emphasizes the need for investment in career and technical education programs to empower students and create pathways to well-paying union jobs.
Michigan’s tourism industry is a significant economic driver but lacks year-round activity to sustain local businesses, something top of mind for Andrews. His ideas to support businesses include the modernization of the public school system, better conditions for teachers and students, and technical training programs to attract and retain workers along the lakeshore.
Andrews' vision for Southwest Michigan includes making the region an even more attractive place to live and raise a family. By investing in career and technical education, he says, the region can create opportunities for growth while addressing critical infrastructure needs.
To build a stronger economy in Michigan and address the state’s infrastructure issues, Andrew notes that good-paying union jobs are key in order to give working families a fair shot.
Andrews says he has been at the forefront of advocating for real solutions to the issues plaguing coastal communities. He also recognizes the importance of addressing growing water issues, erosion, flooding, and the urgent need to modernize aging infrastructure.
