Rep. Jamie Thompson Running For Re-election to Michigan State House Seat

State Rep. Jamie Thompson, a small business owner, is running for re-election in Michigan’s 28th State House District. She spoke about her economic goals as a representative in Lansing to uplift and support Downriver families.

Michigan, known for its automotive industry and manufacturing prowess, faces economic challenges amid global shifts and technological advancements. Thompson says she seeks to address issues that the state is facing like workforce development and infrastructure investment.

Thompson says her plan is to support policies that address economic hurdles and recognize the diverse needs of Downriver’s “wide range of socioeconomic classes and ethnic backgrounds.” Central to Thompson’s platform is to help small businesses’ bottom line and “reduce regulatory burdens and taxes.” To ensure these businesses have the workers they need, she says she supports policies that “diversify Michgan’s workforce” so that Michigan can continue to lead in good-paying jobs. According to her site, Thompson says she will “fight for local infrastructure projects,” such as those involving Michigan’s roads and bridges.

Thompson was first elected to represent the 28th House District in November 2022, and serves on the House Families, Children, and Seniors Committee and the Health Policy Committee. She will face Beth Ann Socia in the Republican primary on August 6.
