Rep. Denise Mentzer Looks To Ease Financial Burdens and Lower Costs for Michigan Families

State Representative Denise Mentzer represents Michigan's 61st House District and says her priority is to put money back into people’s wallets and keep good-paying jobs in Michigan.

Mentzer’s site says that she “recognizes the pain people are feeling with increased prices and a  changing economy”—and the data confirms that. Data from the U.S. Census Bureau reveals that Michigan’s median household income stands at $68,505, ranking below the most recent report on the national real median household income of $74,580. As a result, Mentzer emphasizes the importance of economic policy that prioritizes wages, workers, and preserves jobs within the state rather than outsourcing. Mentzer pledges to advocate for quality and good-paying jobs and investments into bolstering Michigan’s workforce to ensure economic stability and that costs aren't a burden for families.

Mentzer's time in public service began over a decade ago when she was elected to the Mount Clemens City Commission in 2013. Over the years, she says she has honed her skills in municipal governance, learning about budgeting, taxation, and community engagement.

Mentzer is actively involved in various community organizations, including serving as Vice President of the Mount Clemens Optimist Club and as a board member of the Friends of the Mount Clemens Public Library. She is also an officer with the Macomb County Democratic Committee and a member of the Clinton Township Democratic Club.
