Profile: Rep. Kathy Schmaltz From Michigan’s 46th State House District

State Rep. Kathy Schmaltz represents Michigan’s 46th State House District and says supporting small businesses is one of her top priorities.

Schmaltz says she recognizes the effect that the global pandemic and ensuing supply chain issues have had on Michigan’s businesses. She says she will advocate for legislation that addresses the lingering economic effects of the pandemic and push for policies that promote job growth. 

Rep. Schmaltz is a graduate of Michigan State and has been a resident of Jackson and Lansing since the mid-70s. Schmaltz has been recognized by the State of Michigan for her work with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Lansing. Additionally, Schmaltz has chaired the Jackson Grand Slam for Kids for over a decade. She has also been involved with organizations like Easter Seals, the American Cancer Society, and the American Red Cross.
