Candidate Spotlight: Rep. Mark Tisdel, Running for Re-election in Michigan’s 55th House District

State Representative Mark Tisdel of Michigan's 55th State House District was first elected to the state legislature in 2022 and has a background in both public service and business. He served eight years on the Rochester Hills City Council, including one term as President.

In 2000, Tisdel founded Backus Payne, an independent agency specializing in medical liability insurance and says one of his legislative priorities is to support policies that encourage opportunities similar to the one he had when he started Backus Payne.

Tisdel has lived in Rochester Hills since 1989 and has been involved with the local church and charities. He served as a Cantor at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church for over 30 years and has been involved with various charitable initiatives, including Angels’ Place, Neighborhood House, Older Persons’ Commission. He is a father, grandfather, and a husband to Susan Tisdel for 46 years.
