Podcasts are an accessible way to listen to the news, comedy specials, true crime series, and a plethora of other enticing genres.

In recent years, the popularity of podcasts has skyrocketed. According to PBS, in 2024 nearly 505 million people are estimated to be podcasts listeners and 64% of Americans have listened to podcasts.

In 2018 there were approximately 550,000 podcasts, but there are currently over 3 million podcasts, providing consumers with a vast array of different podcasts to choose from. According to Edison Research, some of this year’s most popular are Crime Junkie, The Daily, New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, Dateline NBC, and This American Life

Through the conversational format of podcasts, listeners can feel a personal connection to the podcasters. Ten percent of podcasts are produced in a live format, allowing listeners to interact with the host in real time.
