Rep. Shelby Labs Voted Against Public School Funding Bill
The Republican candidate for House District 143 is incumbent Rep. Shelby Labs. On her campaign website, Labs states that she is committed to “guaranteeing a quality education for our families.”
However, Rep. Labs voted against HB 2370, which, according to YourErie.com, was “expected to significantly improve the school funding system and ensure that education is a fundamental right for all Pennsylvania children.” The school funding bill included “$5.1 billion for chronically underfunded schools, $3.2 billion in cyber charter savings, $1.4 billion through the fair funding formula for all public schools, and $956 million in property tax relief.”
The Democratic candidate for House District 143 is Eleanor Breslin. According to her campaign website, Breslin says she will “ensure that our schools are funded and teachers have the resources they need.”
Breslin has been endorsed by Vote Mama, an organization that requires its candidates to pledge to support “an investment in childcare and pre-k as economic infrastructure.”
