Rep. Craig Williams Voted Against School Funding Bill

The Republican candidate for House District 160 is incumbent Rep. Craig Williams. Rep. Williams indicated his support for school vouchers when he voted for HB 2169. According to the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the bill would have taken “$144 million of taxpayer money from school districts that need state resources the most, forcing these school districts to cut programs, services, and staffing and raise property taxes to fill the gap.”

Rep. Williams voted against HB 2370, the school funding bill that, according to YourErie.com would “allow a fair and equal education for every student in the Commonwealth regardless of their zip code.” The bill would direct billions of dollars to underfunded schools and away from charter schools, as well as provide property tax relief.

Rep. Williams also voted to implement conditional funding to state-related universities.

The Democratic candidate for House District 160 is Elizabeth Moro. In a 2024 candidate survey, Moro stated that she wanted to strengthen the community and economy by “supporting equal access to an excellent public education.”

Moro has been endorsed by the Pennsylvania State Education Association-Political Action Committee on Education (PSEA-PACE). In response to the endorsement, Moro stated, “Education is a top priority in PA160. I’m proud to share that our campaign has been endorsed by PSEA-PACE. I’m so grateful to all of our state’s talented educators and staff, who are the foundation of a strong educational experience. They will have my full support to ensure they have everything they need to provide the best education for our children.”
