Library Card Perks: More Than Just Books!
It is well known that library cards grant access to a diverse array of books. What many people may not realize is that there are many other things you can do with your library card besides borrowing books.
Libraries, such as the Detroit Public Library and the Los Angeles County Library, offer users the opportunity to check out items such as laptops. Los Angeles library card holders can also check out instruments, hiking gear, 3-D printers, and VR headsets.
Other libraries grant library card holders access to passes to experiences such as museums and state parks. The Queens Public Library in New York City provides a variety of programming, including hip hop programs and cultural arts programs.
In Pittsburgh, library card holders can check out bakeware and power tools. With a Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library card, guests can check out telescopes, as well as laser cutters.
Library cards are free and grant access to a diverse range of activities and benefits. This summer is the perfect opportunity to check out the offerings at your local public library. However, there is nothing wrong with simply checking out books with your library card.
