Former Rep. Dean Kaufert Seeks to Return to State Assembly
Republican Dean Kaufert is running for Wisconsin State Assembly District 53. Kaufert is the former mayor of Neenah and state representative for District 55.
While in the State Assembly, Kaufert voted for SB 1, which gave tax cuts that did “little to help those who could most use a few more dollars to spend on” necessities such as groceries and housing, according to a report from the Wisconsin Budget Project.
In fact, as a result of the $1.1 billion tax cuts Kaufert supported, the bottom twenty percent of income earners in the state saw only $48 in savings, while the top one percent received over $2,500 in savings.
According to a media advisory released by his campaign, “[p]ublic service has been a part of my entire life and continuing the important work of serving our local communities and the State of Wisconsin is important to me. Common sense leadership, bringing people together to accomplish positive results, fiscal responsibility and working together for our citizens have been a trademark of my previous positions…”
