Recap of the 2024 Paris Olympics
The 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games have come to an end, taking place from July 26 until August 11.
The United States ended the games at the top of the medals race, with a total of 126 medals, including 40 gold medals. Team USA had many monumental moments throughout this year’s games.
American runner Noah Lyles, placed first in the 100m - by 0.005 of a second. Lyles beat Jamaican runner Kishane Thompson, who ended in second place. Lyles also took home bronze in the 200m race.
The United States’ men’s gymnastics team took home their first Olympic medal in 16 years. The team placed in third while China and Japan took silver and gold, respectively.
Simone Biles became the most decorated American gymnast of all time, after she claimed her seventh gold medal in Paris. Biles won gold in Artistic Individual All-Around, Artistic Team All-Around, and the vault final, as well as silver in the floor exercise final.
American swimmer Katie Ledecky earned the title of the most decorated U.S. female Olympian by securing four medals this year, winning gold in the 1500m freestyle and 800m freestyle, silver in the 4x200m freestyle relay, and bronze in the 400m freestyle. Ledecky has won nine Olympic gold medals and a total of 14 medals over the course of her Olympic career.
