Candidate Hadley Haas Endorsed by Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania PAC, Says She Supports Reproductive Rights

Democrat Hadley Haas, who is running for House District 44, supports abortion rights. According to her campaign website, Haas has been endorsed by Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania PAC for the 2024 election.

On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Haas posted on Twitter, now X, “as a mother, I know how important access to reproductive healthcare is. Roe v. Wade should be 51 years old today. In PA, the right to reproductive freedom, including abortion, is on the ballot in 2024. We can’t afford to go backwards.”

The Republican candidate for House District 44 is incumbent Rep. Valerie Gaydos. Rep. Gaydos opposes abortion rights, stating that she “supports pro-life legislation.”

In 2022, Rep. Gaydos joined a majority of Republicans in voting for SB 106, a bill which, after further legislative action, could have amended the Pennsylvania Constitution to say it does not guarantee any rights to an abortion. If successful, the bill would have made it impossible to bring any legal challenges in state court to restrictive abortion laws passed in the future in Pennsylvania.

Rep. Gaydos also voted for HB 1500, which would prohibit an abortion based on the prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome. She has also voted for an additional bill that places burdens on abortion providers.

Rep. Gaydos was endorsed by the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, an anti-abortion group, as well as Life PAC of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
