Honolulu Celebrates Oahu Small Business Week
HONOLULU, Hawaii — The U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) National Small Business Week took place from April 28 to May 4th this year. The SBA’s annual dedicated week is a nod to the work and impact that America’s small business owners and entrepreneurs have on the country, and highlights their contributions to the nation’s economy.
In honor of the week, the city and county of Honolulu hosted Oahu Small Business Week. From Sunday to Saturday, seminars and events were offered in collaboration with the Small Business Administration. Workshops covered topics such as running home-based businesses and accessing military base facilities as product markets.
The city also launched oahubusinessconnector.org, a resource for business owners, in an effort to promote networking among local organizations. The website features a variety of tools such as assistance with creating business plans and hiring.
The week ended with a booth at Mākeke Wai'anae at Waiʻanae Mall that offered information on free and low-cost services for small business owners.
