Non-Profit “Regarding HER” Launches Program for Women-Owned Food & Beverage Businesses
Women-owned businesses often face a variety of challenges that other businesses may not have to deal with. According to Automatic Data Processing (ADP) women-owned small businesses have reported that hiring, financing, improving employee growth, and company growth are challenges the companies face.
According to a study from Mastercard, three out of ten female entrepreneurs find it difficult to maintain a healthy balance between their personal and professional lives. This dual role requires them to navigate typical business challenges while also handling household responsibilities and caring for their families. Businesses owned by women encounter a range of challenges, but some organizations are striving to help change the narrative.
One such organization is Regarding HER, a nonprofit organization focused on empowering women-owned small business entrepreneurs and leaders in the food and beverage industry. This summer, Regarding HER is launching the organization’s second annual academy. The academy offers a 10-week educational program, including comprehensive learning and awards 20 cash grants of $5,000 each to women who own hospitality businesses in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., in partnership with OpenTable, Found LA, and SoCalGas.
The program features classes covering topics such as goal setting, strategic planning, technology integration, and financial modeling for personal and business use.
According to Rashida Holmes, a 2022 Academy Scholar & Grant Recipient and Chef and Owner of Bridgetown Roti, “Regarding Her’s Academy Program—it was a game changer for me. It’s one thing to have a vision, talent, and passion for cooking delicious food; it’s quite another to know how to run a successful and profitable business.”
